This bomber became the most produced Allied heavy bomber of World War II and the highest-produced American military aircraft, with over 18,000 units made. It served across various Allied air forces and American military branches, earning distinction in major theaters such as Western Europe, the Pacific, the Mediterranean, and China-Burma-India.
