The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, widely known as the "Huey," is a versatile military helicopter that originated from the 1955 US Army trials with Bell's Model 204. Originally designated HU-1 for helicopter utility, this name evolved into the Huey nickname. It entered military service in 1959 and began tri-service production as the UH-1 in 1962. Production ended in 1976 after over 16,000 units were built, with around 7,000 deployed during the Vietnam War, where it became an iconic symbol.
