The EA-18G Growler is a specialized electronic attack variant of the F/A-18F, matching its flight performance. This capability allows it to conduct both escort and standoff jamming missions, accompanying F/A-18s throughout attack operations. Sharing over 90% of its design with the Super Hornet, it includes the Raytheon AN/APG-79 AESA radar and AN/AYK-22 Stores Management System. Electronic attack gear replaces the former internal cannon and extends to the wingtips. Equipped with AN/ALQ-218 receivers and ALQ-99 jamming pods, it offers comprehensive electronic warfare against surface-to-air threats. Typically, it carries up to five jamming pods plus AIM-120 and AGM-88 missiles for defense.
