The idea of a high-speed bomber that could outperform contemporary fighters emerged in the 1930s, resulting in the development of the He 111 twin-engine bomber by German company Heinkel Flugzeugwerke AG. Starting in December 1942, the upgraded He 111H-16 model was produced, featuring more powerful liquid-cooled Jumo 211F-2 engines, VS 11 wooden wider horde propellers, and increased armament. This variant was capable of carrying up to 3000 kg of bombs internally and externally. In 1943-1944, the improved standardized He 111H-20 model was also produced.
