Description

Item No: 48302.

In 1990, Iraq's invasion of Kuwait prompted the multinational coalition to respond with an operation known as "Desert Storm". Beginning on January 17, 1991, this operation involved a massive air and missile strike by Allied forces. During the ground phase, the US Marine Corps utilized OV-10 Bronco aircraft of different variations. These aircraft, stationed in Saudi Arabia, were part of the 3rd Marine Wing and provided vital guidance, targeting, and communication for the coalition's attacks. The OV-10 Bronco was instrumental in locating and engaging Iraqi forces, as well as supporting the Marines' offensive efforts. While this was the final combat use of the OV-10 Bronco by the US Marine Corps, other countries continued to operate various versions of this aircraft after its retirement in 1994.
