Our iconic 1/48 Aircraft Series adds the J variant of the renowned Lockheed P-38 Lightning. Our first P-38 kit, released in late 2019, rapidly became the go-to P-38 model among enthusiasts. The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter aircraft designed and developed by Lockheed. Introduced in 1941, this model was the first Lockheed fighter aircraft to be officially adopted for military use. Over 10,000 of its various variants were manufactured and used during WWII. The P-38J is equipped with intercoolers under the engines, delivering a maximum of 1,600 hp at high altitudes and 1,450 hp. It also boasts enhanced range thanks to additional fuel tanks located in the wingtips. These impressive abilities translate into reliable, exceptional performance at any altitude, earning the P-38J a formidable reputation among allied aircraft.
