The Fairey Fulmar was a British carrier fighter used by the Fleet Air Arm during World War II. Fairey Aviation produced 600 units at their Stockport plant from January 1940 to December 1942. Its design evolved from the earlier Fairey P.4/34, originally created in 1936 to replace the Fairey Battle light bomber. While its performance was modest, the Fulmar was dependable, robust, had impressive range, and was equipped with eight effective machine guns.
