This model features the first fixed M61A1 20mm Vulcan cannon in the extended nose, as well as a movable slat on the leading edge flap for improved air combat performance. Its appearance is distinguished from the previous model by the addition of a gunblast diffuser at the machine gun muzzle, AN/ALR-46 RHWR antennas on the wing tips, and an electro-optical target identification sensor (TISEO) on the left inner wing and an AN/ARN-101 antenna fairing on the back of the fuselage on some late models.
